I inflated DR from 0 to 71 on a domain that didn’t exist

SEO metrics are easier to fake than most people think.

Back in 2023 I tested this by trying to boost the DR of a site that literally didn’t exist. The domain wasn’t even registered.

No traffic.
No content.
No rankings.
No real backlinks.

Just one goal: move the metric.

Disclaimer. This kind of link building gives you zero meaningful SEO value. It will not bring traffic or rankings. The point is only to show how easily the number moves.

Fast forward three years. I wanted to see if anything had changed, so I ordered a random Fiverr gig.

The offer: “increase DR” packages, up to Ahrefs DR 70 for about €140.

A 4.8-star seller, 586 orders completed. Premium tier promises Ahrefs DR 70.

I used the domain admix-70.com, a name I had never registered. I handed an unregistered domain over to be “boosted.” You can check the registration date yourself: 26 September 2026. The first backlinks showed up before the domain even existed.

admix-70.com in Ahrefs: DR 71, 72 referring domains, 0 organic traffic, built in a few days.

The “backlinks”: numbered .xyz domains, ratingbadge*.shop, and a pile of tagged-spam .info and .biz sites.

That is the whole point. You can inflate the DR of a domain that does not exist yet.

The last time I ran a case like this, I spent a while explaining why a domain I never registered was redirecting somewhere. Not everyone realized that once I published the case, someone else went and registered it.

Less than 100 referring domains, and less than a week later, the DR was already inflated, all the way to 71.

That is the experiment.

Don’t confuse a high metric with a strong website. Always look under the hood.

Check real traffic, organic keywords, and the actual quality of the referring domains. A DR number on its own tells you almost nothing.
